Community Health Spotlight – Pottstown Regional Public Library
For this month’s Community Health Spotlight blog, we are showcasing the Pottstown Regional Public Library (PrPL). Founded in 1921 by the Century Club of Pottstown, the library is located at 500 E. High Street (a few blocks away from Unleashed!) and has remained there since 1962. The building was originally the local post office, making it over one hundred years old.
The PrPL is dedicated to advancing literacy and inspiring curiosity in a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment. Their mission is clear: to strengthen our diverse community by providing free and open access and resources that inform, instruct, inspire, and promote lifelong learning.
The PrPL has an impressive list of resources that it offers to the community including passport application services, passport photo services, wireless printing, free passes to local museums, and notary services are available by appointment only.
They provide grab-and-go activity kits for kiddos and teens to keep the creativity flowing, as well as virtual and digital learning resources and opportunities. Not only do they have fun things for the kids to do, they offer special programs and events for adults too – like Zoom Happy Hour Bookclub or the Cookbook Club!
There are plenty of ways to contribute to the future of the Pottstown Library and help keep our events and programs going You can support the library by making a simple donation on their website, shopping via Amazon Smile, or becoming a Library Friend!
The Pottstown Regional Public Library is so vital and important to the growth of our community. Please consider supporting them in any way you can; whether it is attending an event, subscribing to their newsletter, or sending a donation…a little bit always goes a long way!
