Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is ideal for people hoping to create practical and efficient ways to manage stress and achieve goals. It is an excellent, evidence-based counseling option for people making changes in their career, relationships, communication-style, or simply everyday habits. By exploring the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and actions, we will help you create actionable solutions to the problems you’re facing.
Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT)
Everyone needs a safe space, somewhere they don’t have to armor themselves against the world. And sometimes, it can be difficult to create that space on your own. Benji and Annalisa can help you create that space, to give you room to work on yourself. Research has demonstrated that Animal-assisted therapy is an effective treatment for easing depression, soothing anxiety, and improving emotional well-being. It is especially good for people struggling with relationship issues or major stressors in their lives.
Walk & Talk Therapy
Sometimes you need more than traditional talk therapy. Leave the couch and head outdoors for a peaceful walk through nature. Our 2-acre greenspace has a meandering trail that overlooks a calming creek and serves as home to deer, groundhogs, foxes, and more.
Emotional Support Animal Evaluation
Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) can help your home feel safe. However, there are important considerations involved prior to declaring a furry companion clinically necessary. You must hold a supporting letter from a qualified therapist, social worker, or doctor. You will want to protect yourself by knowing the difference between an ESA and a Service Dog. The evaluation/education will take 90 mins and you will be provided with take-home reading material. Clients assessed with a clinical need for an ESA will receive a signed letter within one week of the evaluation.
Healing from Addiction for Loved Ones
We also specialize in helping the folks who help addicts. Partners, parents, and siblings who love an addict can benefit from individual therapy too. Together we can explore your thoughts and feelings about the changing relationship; practice skills for eliminating codependency and enabling behaviors; and turn the focus back on you. Do you put your own needs last? Neglect your own goals and plans? The disease of addiction often derails relationships in this way. It makes sense–you want to help your family member. But you matter, too. Let’s explore a stronger, healthier you.
LGBTQ Affirming Counseling
LGBTQIA+ No matter who you are, or who you love, we support your identity without judgment. Although a person’s sexuality or gender identity may not be a source of distress, people in this community often find that the social stigma of living as a minority is a source of stress or anxiety. Benji is especially good at calming the symptoms of anxiety for our clients–and I can teach you the techniques to take that calm feeling home with you. It’s hard to feel safer than with a happy pup in your lap!
