What’s up my playful pups? Thanks for swinging by again! Today I would like to bark a bit about business. Not all the numbers and meetings (what is a Zoom meeting, anyway?) but what’s really at the heart of a good business: their mission.

Take my Mom’s practice, Unleashed Counseling, for example. We have a mission statement we hold near and dear:

Our mission is to inspire your authentic self through compassionate counseling and sustainable self-care. 

It’s clear, concise, and is at the center of everything we do! Now, I know what you’re thinking. “But Benji, what does all this mission business have to do with me?” Well, like a business, we have lots of moving parts. From our outward actions to our inner thoughts, we have a lot of things going on. Most of us (especially the ones like you who practice self-care) strive to benefit ourselves and others in life. So why not have a statement to help guide those thoughts and actions?

Mine is: ‘The Benji Mission is to scatter joy throughout the room by being the bestest good boy ever.’

Take some time to think deep about what you want your statement to be.  

Try to keep it broad and if you feel a little stuck, write a couple and play with them. Combine, consolidate or expand them. Do what feels right and fits your life.
